Comments Welcome

I know kids who break the commandments because they say they can repent later. They seem to have fun, and I don't see them suffering for it. Meanwhile, I work hard to live Church standards, but I don't see that I'm any better off. What am I doing wrong?

It really came to me on Sunday when we heard talks about keeping the Sabbath day holy. When we choose to break the commandments, we have our rewards immediately, but the consequenses are eternal. When we keep the commandments, our rewards are eternal and usually just a few minutes after manking the right choice.

When you work hard to live Church Standards you are becoming stronger while someone who mocks the standards is becoming weaker. It won't be always obvious immediately but it will matter later.

The problem is you are not looking at keeping the commandments in an Eternal Perspective. Satan wants it to look as if breaking the commandments creates no suffering in a person's life and that you are getting no gain from following them. That is exactly how he wants you to think so he can bring you down as well. You are better off. You are doing what your Heavenly Father has asked you to do and you are building habits and receiving blessings for your obedience to his commandments.

You have to look at how things come out in the end. The perspective in living the standards should be eternal. The others who put off living the standards are hurting themselves now and for eternity if they don't repent.

how do they repent if they aren't sorry for what they did?

you cannot repent unless you are sorry. That is a vital step in repentance. But sometime wether in this life or the next they will feel sorry for the wrong choices they have made, because they will truly come to understand...the question is will it be too late?

It seems like your friends are enjoying themselves with the rewards of the world, such as popularity. But you have to look at it in a different perspective. Sis. Jensen, told us we could only bring 3 things with us when we die. Our covenants, character, and family. Notice popularity isn't on the list. By living the Standards we can obtain a better reward than popularity. We can live with our Savior and Heavenly Father forever. The other thing is that repentance should come immediately after you've committed a sin. The more they delay repentance, the greater the eternal consequences are.
